Board schedules town halls and virtual options to explain levy before May 19 vote

The Mountain View School District board agreed to hold one or more town halls in April to explain the supplemental levy request and answer residents' questions ahead of the May 19 election.
"If we're having the election in May, we should do these town hall meetings in April," Committee member (S6) said, urging multiple sessions and the preparation of clear materials explaining staffing, program costs and other recurring needs. S5 said they would collect dates that would not work for trustees and post potential meeting times for consideration.
Board members discussed offering remote participation options such as Zoom to expand reach and agreed that more than one board member should attend each session so it appears the board is united in presenting the information. Staff (S3) was directed to draft presentation materials that explain why the district needs the money and specifics the public might ask about, including enrollment, staffing, and program impacts.
Trustees emphasized transparency and preparation so the public can make an informed decision at the ballot.
