Board corrects levy calculation; staff says new rate is $83.67 per $100,000
Summary
Staff told trustees the county assessor provided an incorrect property-value split initially; after corrections the per-$100,000 levy rate is $83.67, about $98.49 less than the prior levy rate, and the board opted to underline that language on the ballot.

District staff told trustees they had received incorrect assessor data in an earlier calculation and that the assessor's office subsequently provided corrected property values for SD 246.
"Is $83.67 per 100,000, which is still $98.49 less than the last levy," Staff member (S3) said when announcing the corrected rate. S3 said that after two conversations with the assessor's office — and a follow-up from a staff member referred to as Nuxell — the district recalculated the ballot amounts.
To make the change clearer to voters, staff proposed two ballot-language options: one that simply updates the values and a second that underlines three specific sentences pointing out the new per-$100,000 rate, that the levy replaces an existing levy ending June 30, and the decrease from the previous levy. The board favored the underlined language, pending election-board confirmation and required signatures.
Trustees asked clarifying questions about the math and the effect on the taxpayer rate per $100,000; staff said all other ballot text remained the same and that the change was limited to the per-$100,000 figure and supporting explanatory sentences.
