The Shady Cove Budget Committee voted unanimously on May 26, 2026, to recommend the proposed FY 2026–27 budget to the City Council. The motion to approve the proposed budget was moved by Councilor Steve Mitchell and seconded by Cheryl Singleton; the vote was 7-0.
City Administrator Pro Tem John Edwards read the Budget Message and "thanked all the members for their participation, time, and efforts," according to the meeting minutes. Committee members were told the proposed budget was compiled by John Edwards, Mayor Lena Richardson and Councilor Kathy Nuckles and that budget binders had been distributed to all present.
Key elements discussed during the review included proposed staffing changes in the general fund, the inclusion of an ODOT Small City Allotment grant application for road and drainage work, and ongoing water-project drawdowns tied to a Business Oregon grant. Committee members also discussed retirement of the Transient Lodging Tax Fund and the need to separately track system development charges (SDC) in the restricted SDC fund.
The committee scheduled a public hearing and a special City Council meeting for the FY 2026–27 budget presentation. The committee adjourned at 11:07 a.m.
