Seneca to reapply for fire‑station renovation grants, issue RFP for bids

Seneca officials moved to restart grant-seeking and procurement steps for a proposed fire-station renovation. Manager Amanda Born told the council representatives at the Ford Family Foundation invited the city to reapply because the project scope changed from new construction to renovating an existing building.
Born also reported the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) requires the city to spend $50,000 (excluding in-kind contributions) before USDA funds could be used on the project, and that Cycle Oregon — which previously awarded a $13,000 grant to the city — requested a project budget for the renovation. "The funding from the USDA requires that the City spend $50,000, that doesn't include in-kind contributions, before the funding could be used," Born said.
Councilor Northington recommended putting out a formal request for bids and reapplying to the Ford Family Foundation. Councilor Northington moved and Councilor Holliday seconded a motion to reapply to the Ford Family Foundation and to issue an RFP for renovation bids; the motion passed unanimously.
Next steps recorded in the meeting minutes include drafting the RFP, assembling a renovation budget for Cycle Oregon, and preparing a reapplication package for the Ford Family Foundation.
