Seneca council to pursue vacating part of 2nd Street adjacent to Grayback Forestry

The council reviewed letters from city attorney Wyatt Baum about vacating the portion of 2nd Street that abuts Grayback Forestry. City Manager Josh Walker reported Grayback signed a 20‑year encroachment permit when it purchased the building, but later expressed dissatisfaction and requested the property be vacated. Walker said the city-initiated vacation process appears more streamlined and proposed that the city could vacate the strip and either sell the portion to Grayback or offer a slightly larger parcel and sell the remainder by bid.
Mayor Andrea Combs said Grayback should pay surveying and any related costs for the portion going to them, and the council directed Walker to research the legality of sharing surveying costs if the city initiates the vacation. Walker will present options at the next council meeting.
