Councilor Josh Walker told the council the Broadband Coalition is working with the city of John Day and county communications stakeholders on a grant that is available to communities affected by natural disasters. "They would like City of Seneca to write a letter of support for this grant," Walker said, and he said the Greater Eastern Oregon Development Coalition (GEODC) will likely submit the application and contact city staff.
Walker described preliminary coordination with stakeholders such as ambulance services, the sheriff's office and fire districts and asked the council to authorize a letter of support so the city can be included in the regional application. The council did not record a formal vote in the transcript but instructed staff to expect contact from GEODC and the Broadband Coalition.
