Council says water project feasibility, grant issues under remediation; construction eyed for 2027

RH2 Engineering has been retained for a feasibility study on intake and pump locations for the southside city water system; the study’s target completion date is October 2026. Councilor Nuckles said the city retained its water storage permit and is awaiting Army Corps action before the state completes its review; she added Representative McIntire “is willing to help the City on future funding options once we are further along in the process.” The timeline discussed estimates construction and installation could be complete by June 2027, subject to permitting and design decisions.
Council directed staff to continue working with Business Oregon and RH2 and to return with design-phase recommendations once the feasibility study concludes. No formal vote was recorded on the water project status at this meeting.
