Board approves new job descriptions for career-and-college specialist, bilingual liaison and passenger van driver

The board approved three personnel items that reshape support services across district sites.

Career-and-college specialist: Trustees approved an updated description that expands duties — career‑day planning, FAFSA and college‑readiness supports, grant-related responsibilities and monthly outreach goals tied to site needs. The role remains a classified position; staff recommended minimum qualifications at a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. A trustee asked whether the position reports to the high‑school principal for day‑to‑day supervision; staff confirmed day‑to‑day oversight lies with site administrators and the ADCO team coordinates district direction.

Passenger van driver: The board approved a short‑shift passenger‑van driver classification to transport a student to an out‑of‑district program and provide flexible coverage. The job requires district-vehicle operation, drug testing participation, and could be used for other short-term transportation work. Trustees discussed whether vans should be marked to indicate student occupants; staff will explore marking options with transportation.

Bilingual family liaison: The board also approved the bilingual family‑liaison description, which will be supervised by the community‑schools coordinator and broadened to serve families districtwide (not only English learners). Positions will be posted once the description is finalized.
