The board approved a consultant services agreement with Halley Deveril to implement a certified wellness‑coach program funded by a Department of Health Care Services grant. Superintendent Lillian said the grant is approximately $420,000 over 18 months and aims to place one certified wellness coach at each school site if recruitment fills positions.
"This grant will support one person at each site if we can fill all of those positions," Lillian said. She described the role as a counseling pipeline: wellness coaches are typically trainees working toward counseling credentials and will operate under supervision from Halley and site principals.
Trustees asked about reimbursement mechanics and whether services could extend to families; Lillian said initial funding comes from the grant and that the district hopes Medi‑Cal billing changes will allow continued billing for services in the future. The board adopted the agreement by roll call.
