The board approved the consent agenda unanimously and moved on to several personnel and policy actions. The Board approved the hiring of Rosalie Golden as a community-coordinator–type educational assistant and Renee Green as a 5th–6th grade educational assistant; both hires were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
In policy business, staff noted two immediate changes to the Healthy and Safe Schools statement (updates to asbestos emergency-response contacts and testing links) and an increase to internal insurance coverage cited in the packet. The Presenter previewed a broader policy-cleanup packet recommended by the policy analyst — about 111 deletions — that the board will consider in September, with a plan to address remaining policy sections via monthly 1st/2nd reads starting in October to complete work by June.
"That package is gonna look long, but don't get overwhelmed when you see it," a board member said, urging members to review the deletion list before the September meeting.
