At the August 21 meeting, the Mapleton SD 32 board elected Andrea as board chair and Mary as vice chair following nominations and voice/hand votes conducted in the room. The board also approved hiring two educational assistants — Rosalie Golden (community coordinator role) and Renee Green (5th–6th grade assignment) — and moved to renew the superintendent's contract for three years.
During the contract discussion, the Presenter explained the renewal is a three-year contract with an annual negotiation clause and recommended adding a 1% cost-of-living increase tied to collective bargaining outcomes for certified and classified staff. A motion to renew the superintendent contract was moved and seconded and the board recorded the vote as in favor. "The only thing I've asked for each year are collective bargaining for both certified and classified, included a 1% cost of living increase," the Presenter said.
The board completed nominations and votes in sequence and tasked staff to process the administrative paperwork related to the contract renewal and hires.
