Committee approves amended stockade fence at 285 Mayfair Road after abutter concerns

Owner Brandon Okoro presented application 26-A-092 seeking approval to install a stockade fence at 285 Mayfair Road. The chair noted the prior denial of a fence at the same property and asked the applicant to explain changes. Okoro said the new fence will replace the previous structure and that he intends to use the existing posts where possible, reset posts to 8-foot spacing where necessary, and paint his structural side white.
Multiple abutters, including John and Karen Gilligan, raised concerns about concrete footings, nonuniform post spacing and potential encroachment. A neighbor warned the presentation side should face the neighbors and that the fence length and height created visual impacts. The committee negotiated amendments: Okoro agreed the presentation (finished) side would face neighbors, the structural side would be painted white on his side, and both ends would taper down with the end panels angled to reduce visual mass. With those amendments in hand, a motion to approve was moved, seconded and the application was approved as amended. The committee reminded the applicant that property-line disputes are not within the committee's purview but urged cooperation with abutters during installation.
