The Fresno County Board of Education authorized staff to solicit bids for upgrades to playgrounds at three special‑education centers: Rainmaker, Monte Vista and Sutherland (project C2026‑18).
Mr. Becker (facilities staff) described the design principles: each site will have new structures, fall‑attenuating surfacing, shade, and inclusive equipment enabling wheelchair access. "So the beginning of this floor as well as, doctor Cofer for contributing a little bit more so we could get an equitable project across these 3 school sites," Becker said, and added the architect's estimate of $952,000. Staff said $750,000 will come from the superintendent integration program and the remainder from deferred maintenance funds.
Board members asked about specific inclusive features (an at‑grade merry‑go‑round and transfer stations); staff said renderings will be provided to trustees. The motion passed by roll call (unanimous).
