District outlines Prop 28 arts and music spending, plans hires and partnerships

Dr. Trujillo presented the district's Proposition 28 (arts and music) annual report, explaining staff used partners to provide services in years when the district could not hire classroom art and music teachers. The district reported a carryover because waivers and hiring delays limited immediate spending.
Dr. Trujillo said the district expects to hire a music teacher who will provide districtwide support and is interviewing for an art teacher; those hires would reduce reliance on agency partners and align visual and performing arts instruction across PK–8. "Our goal at Franklin McKinley is that all students receive some type of visual and performing arts instruction for 30 minutes a week," she said. Staff noted reporting and auditing requirements tied to Prop 28 funds and said they will continue to monitor program alignment and student engagement.
