District says $9 million GMP holds as school construction nears June completion

The district's facilities director reported that the FRC bond project is on track for a June completion, saying the interior drywall is finished, most lighting is installed and exterior concrete flatwork is largely done. "The drywall is done... the lighting's in," the director said while walking trustees through progress photos.
The director said earlier budget estimates had been about $11,000,000 but that after negotiating a guaranteed maximum price the project was reduced to "about $9,000,000." He told the board there have been unusually frequent credits on change orders because some contingency items did not materialize after DSA permitting; he also noted a DSA-required fire hydrant added an unanticipated line-item expense (estimated in discussion at roughly $100,110 to $150,000). Trustees asked about schedules and site utilities; staff said concrete flatwork is largely complete, remaining work includes landscape and play-equipment installation, and the district aims to secure DSA permits for the alternate-education (Alt Ed) site in May to begin summer work.
Board members and staff also discussed parallel non-bond projects at Fort Bragg Middle School and options to add an independent PG&E service or pursue a lot-line adjustment to avoid costly long runs to an existing transformer. The board asked staff to bring design drawings and updated budget/timeline information for Alt Ed at a future meeting.
