Chair told commissioners the water-plan public outreach period includes an event on August 4 and suggested a special meeting on Monday the 17th to inventory incoming comments and decide whether to integrate changes into the draft plan. Staff indicated public comments are coming in through multiple channels and that a short, preparatory staff summary would be necessary before commissioners review the input together.
The Chair also reported discussions with district managers about hiring Dr. Paschke (a hydrologic modeler named in the meeting) to pull Douglas County out of a larger model and run scenario analyses for the county; the cost range discussed was roughly $24,000–$38,000. The commission suggested that a focused modeling task would be affordable and useful for policymakers and governance bodies that oversee water providers.
