Residents press council on traffic, potholes; EMS reports 108 transports to date

Several residents raised infrastructure and traffic concerns during public comment. Dennis Dutchess asked about striping from the park exit to Illinois Avenue near Taqueria LouLous; Code Enforcement Officer Wade Keith said the town is waiting on the contractor and estimated the work to be about one to two months out. Resident Mike Curran asked about a missing turning light at Buckhannon Pike and Pennsylvania Avenue; Mayor Sam Maxson said he had attempted to contact the West Virginia Department of Highways but had not received a response. Resident Jennifer Robinson asked about a pothole at Bryan Street and Indiana Avenue; the council said the repair was in progress.
The council also received an EMS report (provided by EMT Frank Ferrari) that recorded 71 emergency calls and 108 transports to date, including five ALS transports. EMS staff reported work to ready unit 710 to be designated as a rapid response unit and said the new billing system is working and has prompted renegotiated contracts and internal reviews to improve revenue collection.
