Nutter Fort Police outline plans for license-plate cameras, body cameras and taser replacements

Chief Ron Godwin outlined equipment and technology needs for the Nutter Fort Police Department during the Aug. 27 council meeting. He said funding has been identified to replace tasers and that he is pursuing state funds to purchase license-plate recognition cameras. "He hopes to purchase four to place on N. and S. ends of Rt. 20 and E. and W. ends of Rt98," the minutes state. The chief said he had viewed demonstration video of the cameras’ capabilities.
On body-worn cameras, Chief Godwin said he is meeting Sept. 5 to explore options and potential state funding to cover purchases. Council discussion focused on funding sources and placement; no formal procurement action was recorded at the meeting. The department will continue to pursue available state funds and report back to the council on any recommended purchases or required budget actions.
