The Town of Nutter Fort Council on Aug. 13 accepted the first reading of Ordinance 2024‑09, which authorizes the issuance of sewer revenue bonds in two series to fund extensions and improvements to the town’s public sewerage system.
The ordinance text approved for first reading authorizes up to $1,500,000 in Series 2024 A bonds and up to $2,500,000 in Series 2024 B bonds under the West Virginia State Revolving Fund (SRF) program. Councilor Charlene Louk moved to accept the first reading and Councilor Karen Phillips seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The ordinance also authorizes execution of related financing documents and a bond purchase agreement under program terms laid out in the ordinance language.
Council did not hold a final vote; the action on Aug. 13 was limited to first reading. If later adopted, the bonds would fund specified additions and betterments to the town’s sewer system and include provisions setting rights, remedies, and security for registered owners of the bonds. Additional administrative steps and financing documentation were noted as required by the ordinance text presented on first reading.
Next steps: the council will schedule subsequent readings and any required public hearings before final adoption; timing and final terms were not specified in the meeting record.
