The Osage City Council on July 8 tabled Ordinance No. 1703, which would repeal Ordinance No. 1387 and re-establish the east 90 feet of Schenk Street and a 60-foot north-south right-of-way (30 feet from center to north and south).
City Manager Katie Hodge described the re-establishment. Property owner Carrie Potter, who lives along the proposed re-established street, told the council she was concerned that a 30-foot easement to the north would extend far into her property. Council members discussed uncertainty about the locations of utilities along the road and whether the proposed easement lines matched existing infrastructure.
Council Member Cathryn Houghton moved to table the ordinance for further review; Council Member Susan Smith seconded. The motion carried 6-0 with Council Member Jeff Tice recusing himself due to a conflict of interest. The council did not adopt the ordinance at this meeting and directed staff to return the item for future consideration after clarifying utility locations and property impacts.
The record does not indicate a staff report with specific utility maps was presented at this meeting; the council’s direction was to obtain additional information before acting further.
