District to use $6 million community-schools grant to expand bilingual liaisons, counseling and family engagement

Fort Bragg Unified announced on Oct. 15 that it received a Community Schools Partnership Program grant for just over $6 million over five years. The superintendent said the grant will fund bilingual family liaisons, expand mental-health supports (including telehealth access to counseling with an intake turnaround target of 48 hours), professional development and family-engagement activities.
The grant also includes a subgrant for a Community Engagement Initiative that provides about $70,000 per year to support outreach activities. Superintendent said the award exceeded initial expectations, giving the district flexibility to align funds to local priorities. Staff will present a budget and implementation plan in the coming months and has attended webinars to clarify allowable expenditures.
Trustees said they welcome stronger communication tools and asked staff to coordinate publicity and outreach so families understand services available under the grant.
