"We are spending a little more money than we're actually bringing in as far as our budget," the superintendent said, explaining the district borrowed from the reserve to support initiatives. They noted each student represents about $11,000 in revenue, and said the district must not "get on a steady diet" of drawing down reserves.
The superintendent urged the board to monitor enrollment and revenue projections closely, saying higher-than-expected enrollment would improve the district’s fiscal outlook. A board member reported a $35,000 transfer into a newly created track repair fund in the proposed budget, noting that change appears in the current draft.
After discussion, Chair (speaker 1) closed the budget hearing and the board moved to the consent agenda; the motion to approve the agenda was seconded and the chair announced, "Motion carried."
