River Celebration set for Sept. 7; organizers seek volunteers and donations

Brenda Wells, introduced at the meeting as the River Celebration team lead, described plans for this year's neighborhood festival on Sept. 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. She reviewed past event features—seed and produce exchanges, local vendors, bike tune-ups and a family-friendly program—and said last year's attendance was about "4 to 500 people."
Wells said the celebration is intentionally neighborhood-focused and that the planning committee is looking for volunteers, donated prizes and local-business participation. She noted the event will include the area's Hazelnut Grove and a route to Razor Park, and organizers are adding an ecstatic-dance element and discussing logistics to keep the event light on parking and family-friendly.
Organizers asked residents to sign up on a planning team sheet and said planning meetings occur on the second and fourth Fridays.
