Board approves additional cleanup at Area 33, including mulch and optional weed‑whacker work

The Heritage Pines board approved a proposal on Dec. 10 to perform additional cleanup at Area 33 that includes perimeter cleanup, removal of dead trees and mulching. The motion, moved by Michael Walsh and seconded by Stephen Putman, passed unanimously; Mr. Adams said the invoice will be paid upon completion.
District Engineer Kurt Heath advised the board that there is a natural wetland in the center of the area and a separate excavated retention area on the western side, and he described parts of the south side as difficult to mow with equipment. Heath said the optional scope for weed-whacker cleanup on the dry retention slope is recommended "although it does not impede drainage." Ms. Vaughan asked Mr. Gatz to inspect native grasses at Hole 2 and recommended additional mulch.
