Peters Township Council voted unanimously July 27 to direct the township manager to advise advisory boards that mandatory in-person participation will be required going forward. "All you need tonight to do is, direct the township manager to inform the advisory boards that mandatory in person participation will be required going forward," staff told council before the motion was moved and seconded.
Council members debated whether remote attendance had worked well in the past and whether allowing some boards to participate remotely would create excuses for absence or problems with reviewing evidence at hearings. Chair and other members said in-person meetings better serve public business; the motion passed on a voice vote recorded 7–0. The council did not adopt a written resolution at the meeting but directed staff to notify boards and return with any formal language later.
