Heard County approves paving of Yates Lane under MOU with Carroll County

The Heard County Board approved paving Yates Lane on July 25 at a cost of $105,880.00 to be paid from SPLOST IV, following review of a memorandum of understanding with Carroll County.
Chairman Lee Boone said a 2011 memorandum of understanding between Heard and Carroll counties had not been executed; Carroll County's attorney recently raised the issue. County Attorney Jerry Ann Conner reviewed and revised the draft MOU and Public Works Director Darold Wiggins said the Heard County paving quantities were reasonable and would be verified with Carroll County. Commissioner Gwen Caldwell moved, Commissioner Larry Hooks seconded and the board voted unanimously to proceed with paving Yates Lane at the stated cost.
The minutes indicate the revised MOU will be used to finalize responsibilities and quantities prior to execution and that payment will come from SPLOST IV.
