Heard County awards SPLOST paving contracts for Bevis and Pea Ridge roads

The Heard County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved SPLOST-funded paving contracts July 25 for two county roads.
Public Works Director Darold Wiggins reported bids received that day: Gallagher Asphalt Corporation submitted the low bid of $387,140.00 for Bevis Road (from the Franklin city limits to U.S. 219), and Hubbard Construction Company submitted the low bid of $202,200.00 for Pea Ridge Road (from Georgia Highway 100 to the end of pavement). Wiggins recommended accepting both bids. Commissioner Sandi Allen moved and Commissioner Larry Hooks seconded, and the board voted to award both contracts, to be paid from SPLOST III, for a combined total of $589,340.00.
Wiggins presented the bids as routine SPLOST road projects; no opposing bids or objections were recorded in the minutes.
