Staff said Norfolk Southern requested that the crossing remain within the asphalt on Calumet; commissioners agreed the visuals addressed earlier concerns and voted to approve the concept.
A staff member reported the crossing concept and showed a PDF of examples used elsewhere. "Norfolk Southern said that they wanted our crossing to remain within the asphalt on Calumet," the staff member said, and added that the consultant estimate for construction and final design is expected to be "somewhere in the range of 200 to $350,000." Committee member (speaker 3) moved to approve the concept and another member seconded; the commission approved the motion by voice vote. Staff said it will return with a formal estimate for cost and next steps.
