Administrators presented four draft district goals to the board for first review, with a formal vote expected next month.
Tony summarized the goals: raise the share of students at or above grade-level proficiency in ELA and math by 5 percent; engage families and students to reach a 95% attendance rate; implement strategies to recruit and retain high-quality staff; and use enrollment data to consider long-term impacts on budget, staffing and buildings and to develop action plans. "The first two are the exact same as we had last year," Tony said, explaining the administration's preference to focus on a small set of multi-year goals rather than changing priorities annually.
Board members were told no vote was required at this meeting; administrators said finance and leadership teams have already begun aligning work to the first two goals and that a board vote is planned in August.
