Oak Park MAC asks that Public Works follow CDFW reporting in draft creek maintenance agreement

Ventura County Public Works’ draft 2025–2030 routine maintenance agreement with the California Department of Fish & Wildlife for Medea and Lindero creeks and tributaries was discussed and the MAC invited public input. The MAC’s written submission, prepared by Brian Trushinski, asks that county maintenance activities follow the agreement’s reporting and permit requirements to strike a balance between community aesthetics, wildfire hazard reduction and environmental protection.
Residents raised specific compliance concerns. Debbie Sharpton asked whether the County performs CEQA review for maintenance agreements and called for better multi-jurisdictional management. Friends of Oak Park Open Space members urged adherence to CDFW regulations and requested a management plan to prevent future environmental damage in the headwaters upstream of Hollytree Drive.
