Interim Town Manager Ed Driggers reviewed the proposed FY2026–27 budget before Council on June 22, noting that workshop amendments had been incorporated into the ordinance. Driggers told Council staff identified “approximately $53,350 in originally proposed appropriations that were no longer funded and the addition of $25,000 in Council discretionary appropriations.”
Councilman D. Brock moved to appropriate an additional $10,000 within the Hospitality Tax Special Events/Community budget, splitting $5,000 each to Blythewood High School and Westwood High School athletic booster organizations; Councilman R. McKenrick seconded. The amendment passed unanimously by roll call. The full ordinance (Ordinance 2026.007) was then approved on second reading, 5-0.
Town Manager Doug Polen identified a scrivener’s error in the ordinance and the council restored omitted language ensuring that General Fund contingency funds require a majority vote of Town Council for expenditure. Council also approved a consolidated Master Fee Schedule that will take effect July 1 to centralize rental, event, and facility fees.
