Ventura County Fire says radio tower project paused; promotes Fire Prevention Week and Oct. 5 open house

The Ventura County Fire Department reported to the Oak Park MAC that it has "decided not to pursue" a planned radio communications tower at Fire Station 36 for the time being while the agency rebuilds its communications microwave system and enhances VHF radio capabilities. The department said it is evaluating options for radio infrastructure and staffing needs for IT/radio positions. VCFD also announced Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 6–12) with a smoke-alarm challenge and promoted an Oct. 5 open house at Station 36 (11 a.m.–3 p.m.).
The department framed the pause on tower projects as part of a broader review of communications needs and personnel following the departure of a prior manager. The open-house event and an Oct. 9 headquarters tour for MAC members were offered as outreach and public-engagement opportunities.
