Oak Park MAC votes to keep monthly meetings after residents urge continued frequency

The Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council voted unanimously on Sept. 26 to continue holding monthly meetings in 2025 after a public comment period in which several residents urged the board not to reduce meeting frequency. Chair Brian Trushinski moved to continue monthly meetings and Vice Chair Jane Nye seconded; the motion "was passed by all." Resident Brianna Adams told the board she "spoke against transitioning to quarterly or bimonthly meetings" and said it’s important for Oak Park residents to have frequent opportunities to be heard.
Field Representative Israel Rodriguez described how other MACs in the area are moving to quarterly meetings with subcommittees meeting monthly, but council members and commenters emphasized local preference for monthly gatherings. The board also discussed candidate introductions for the October meeting, sign-board volunteers and maintaining staff support for minutes.
