Designers tout nearly $650,000 state grant for Meinek Park, then revise plans to save trees

Brian Martin of Langohansen told the board the master-plan refinement and public outreach for Mining/Meinek Park led to a successful Oregon Parks and Recreation District grant application worth "just around almost $650,000," which staff described as a major boost for the project.
As the project moved into construction documentation, a detailed topo survey showed steeper slopes and many trees in the footprint of proposed ADA routes. Martin said the design team consulted an accessibility specialist and an arborist and identified hybrid routing and construction methods to improve accessibility while minimizing tree removal, including relocating a proposed ramp and moving a shelter closer to the parking lot.
