The project’s original temporary bridge was 140 feet at $845,473; moving the site downstream to avoid interference with future construction added roughly 20 feet and an additional cost of about $190,000, which commissioners approved by voice vote.
Commissioners said the relocation was chosen to prevent conflicts with a future construction project and that the county expects to be reimbursed through state emergency funds. "It added an additional 20 ft to the length and increased the cost by just under $200,000," a commissioner said during the meeting. The board recorded the motion, a second, and the vote to proceed with the change order.
