Resident urges Lincoln County to formalize election administrator role

Wickham referenced the Montana Code Annotated and urged the commission to include in a resolution the reporting structure and responsibilities of the election administrator. Commissioners responded that past practice has been to specify the role by title rather than assign an individual’s name to a resolution; one commissioner said such naming in the past led to confusion when personnel changed. Commissioners stressed the importance of documenting reporting relationships — for example, rotational reporting tied to election cycles — to improve perceptions of election integrity. There was no motion or vote on a resolution at the meeting.
