UDOT briefs Payson council on I‑15 interchange project, schedules March 11 open house

A UDOT representative told the council that Union Pacific is reviewing proposals for the I‑15 interchange project and that an open house is set for March 11, 5:30–7:30 p.m., at Parkview Elementary School; UDOT said work on 800 South in Payson is not part of the current funding plan.
Eric Rasband of the Utah Department of Transportation updated the council about the status of the I‑15 interchange project. Rasband said the Union Pacific Railroad is reviewing proposals; once those reviews are complete and approvals are secured, construction can begin. He described a phased approach being coordinated between UDOT and Payson City staff.
Rasband also announced a public open house on March 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Parkview Elementary School. He explained that an environmental study near Rocky Ridge Town and the widening of the freeway south of Santaquin have advanced; because those funds are dedicated to the southern widening work, UDOT is not currently considering work on 800 South in Payson as part of this funded phase. Councilmembers expressed interest in updating the 800 South interchange in future discussions.
