Forebay Committee to include $7,500 kiosk bid in PARC grant application

Art Troyer told the Forebay Committee that Smith Steelworks submitted a bid "approximately $7500 for the base, two 4x4 posts, and a pitched roof" for a sign that would reach about 8x8 feet to the top of the gable. He said the city would be responsible for footings, excavation and the concrete foundation and that adding a steel backing or mounting frame would raise the cost.
The committee discussed the kiosk’s design and placement, including whether it should be single- or double-sided and the need to display maps and trail rules. Troyer said he had spoken with Justin Turner in MTech’s civil engineering group about a possible fabrication-shop project to support construction. Bridgette Cheever said she will complete and submit the PARC grant application that will include the current bids and the committee’s signage requests.
Committee members also agreed to consider trail counters and other items for the same PARC funding request to gather visitor-use data. No formal vote on the kiosk design was taken; the committee’s next step is to finalize the PARC application and supplemental design details.
