A resident (S11) raised a safety concern and asked why two stop signs had not been reinstalled at the 1st Street railroad crossing. Town counsel Justin (S3) advised the council on enforcement and legal implications, saying a municipality can post stop signs but must consider enforcement and potential liability.
After discussion, Councilmember S2 moved and the board voted to direct staff to draft an ordinance to place stop signs on each side of the crossing. The motion carried; staff will draft the ordinance and return it to the council for introduction and subsequent publication as required by town procedures.
