Commissioners reconstitute DUI task force, approve eight applicants and name Kelsey Jean Meyer coordinator

The board moved to reestablish the DUI task force after the resignation of long‑time coordinator Cindy Fuller. County staff said the state recommended a formal application process and county approval to set membership so deputies and officers do not automatically control the committee.
Staff presented eight applicants: Sarah Long; Travis Miller (chief of police, Troy); Chief Urkin (chief of police, Libby); Katie Davis (treatment court coordinator); Kelsey Jean Meyer (victim‑witness program); Andy Horton (Montana Highway Patrol sergeant); O'Neal (county attorney's office); and Kathleen Sheffield (victim‑witness advocate). A commissioner moved to approve the applicants as presented and the board voted to appoint the membership.
The committee recommended Kelsey Jean Meyer as coordinator and the board appointed her to that role. A law enforcement representative who spoke during the presentation said, "DUI is a huge issue in Lincoln County," emphasizing the task force's role in coordinating education, extra enforcement shifts and training. The board noted that the coordinator contract will be reviewed and a position‑specific contract will be brought back for approval.
The appointments restore the task force's formal membership so the group can apply for and administer training and overtime funds tied to DUI enforcement.
