Bridgewater’s Community Preservation Committee voted Wednesday to pay the remaining $7,500 balance on a historic-interior assessment for the town’s restored townhouse, drawing on FY27 administrative funds.
Chair Gina Gascogne moved the payment during the meeting, asking members to fund “the balance on both associates contract for the assess interior assessment in the amount of $7,500,” and the motion passed on a roll call vote. Committee staff said the assessment report will inform structural and preservation steps as the town prepares for further restoration work.
The committee discussed that the assessment and a separate Cultural Council grant — about $16,000 to cover mechanical work — address different scopes: the CPC-funded assessment focuses on structural and historic-preservation needs while the town grant covers mechanical systems. Staff noted two quotes had been collected for the assessment and that $7,500 represented the remaining invoice after an earlier payment in June.
Members asked that the consultant (Joe Booth) meet with a small subset of committee members before submitting a final report so the committee can review findings and agree next steps. The committee’s vote authorizes staff to complete the payment and directs that final reports and before/after documentation be filed with the CPC.
