Council also raised erosion and drainage concerns tied to vegetation and trash placed at the area adjacent to Gem Lake by a private lawn‑maintenance contractor that drains to the canal and then to the Lake Worth Lagoon/Intracoastal. The minutes state that "all areas draining to the Intracoastal must be free of trash and debris per the PBC National Pollutant Discharge and Elimination System agreement with the state." Council directed staff to advise the property owner that the area cannot be used for trash collection and to pursue compliance steps as appropriate.
