Planning staff told the council the city has scheduled a comp-plan open house for Aug. 4 prior to the planning commission meeting to present a high-level overview of plan elements. "We're gonna have Joseph presenting on the comp plan," the staff member said, and noted the city submitted draft documents to the state, which accepted them and issued reimbursement for that portion of the grant.
Staff also said the state reduced the grant amount slightly and that the city's comp-plan survey will be short (about five to seven questions) and released after the community survey is complete to reduce confusion. Courtney reiterated the deadline for the community survey and its intended use: "Anybody who lives in 98942 should be taking the survey... This wasn't put out to gain a whole bunch of data and numbers. It will give us that depending on how many people do the survey," she said, adding the council will use results to inform a workshop rather than as sole decision-making data.
