Parks staff outline bond projects; town submits federal grant for Dogwood Park work

Parks staff reported multiple park bond projects and a pending grant application. "We'll be issuing an RFP for the Coffee Creek Park Boardwalk improvement soon, and we also started the design process to update the playground equipment at Tamarack Park," the parks representative said.
The town will also submit a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant application this week to support revitalization of the east side of Dogwood Park. The staff outlined possible project elements: a skate park, dog park, playground improvements, sand volleyball courts and additional sidewalks. Parks staff said the town will learn the status of the grant in the fall, which will inform how to proceed with larger bond projects.
Staff also noted park cleanup needs following a storm and encouraged residents to apply for a vacancy on the Park Board; a state statute limits the board to no more than two members of a single political party.
