Engineering staff told the council the town has started a zoning-code audit to review the zoning code and history of variance requests. "We did start. We had a kickoff meeting on our zoning audit," the engineering representative said, explaining the audit will identify needed updates.
Council members said the first meeting was productive. The staff member said the team had compiled a spreadsheet of variance requests and public feedback and will use that to guide recommendations. Council support was voiced, with one member saying, "I thought it was very positive. It was rather, you know, we had an extensive 1st meeting."
The audit will examine the code for updates and identify areas where changes could reduce variance requests or clarify expectations for developers. The engineering staff indicated the work will proceed as staff and consultants develop draft recommendations to bring back to the council for later consideration.
