Forest Service reports active Ransom fire and new 'm fire' in Cabinet Ranger District

The presenter said the Ransom fire was about 650 acres and ‘‘less than 25% contained’’ while crews made significant suppression efforts; the presenter added that partners have invested in replanting burned areas and the agency is working to protect those investments.
The presenter also described a recently ignited "m fire" on the Cabinet Ranger District that produced a visible column the previous night and burned through a 10‑year fire scar. County officials and Forest Service staff told the board resources are thin but crews have been successful in many recent incidents, and that fuel loading in old scars remains a persistent risk in dry years.
