Board approves Turner pay request as evidence storage and firing range nears turnover

The Dallas County Board of Supervisors on July 7 approved Turner Construction’s pay application as work on the county law-enforcement evidence storage and indoor firing range moved into final commissioning stages.
Chad Lane of Turner Construction told the board the site paving, sidewalks, landscaping rock and gas service are complete and that the firing-range ceiling baffle system, wall assemblies and trap installation are in place. “We’re kind of moving into the last month, month and a half of the project,” Lane said, adding that mechanical-electrical-plumbing startup, test-and-balance and punch-list work remain before turnover the first week of August.
Christopher Orth of Farnsworth Group recommended approval of Turner’s pay application number 16 for work completed through June 30, 2026, and summarized recent expenditures and remaining allowances and contingencies. The board voted by voice to approve the pay application.
County staff said the project is roughly 85% complete and that unspent contingency and allowance funds will be reconciled and returned to the county via deductive change order when final accounting is complete. The board did not request further delay of the payout; a supervisor moved and the motion carried on a voice vote.
