City announces new hires, summer programs and public-safety training ahead of Strawberry Days

Pleasant Grove leaders used the June 2 work session to introduce two new employees: Public Works Operator Mekhi Liotta and Planning Assistant Maria Arteaga. Public Works Director Neal Winterton and Community Development Director Daniel Cardenas made the introductions and welcomed the new hires.
Staff also previewed summer programs and internal events: Library Director Sheri Britsch said Summer Reading begins the next day, Management Intern Soad Sing announced an employee steps challenge running June–August, and the Fire Department noted the Fireman's Pancake Breakfast scheduled for June 13, 2026. Police and fire leaders described recent Citizens Academy activities that allowed staff and council members to observe drones, K9s, tasers and extrication tools. Staff encouraged council members and residents to consider Citizens Academy participation.
