Council adopts new rule limiting parade right-of-way claims until 3 p.m. day before Strawberry Days

Pleasant Grove administrators told the council June 2 that items may not be placed in the City right-of-way until 3:00 p.m. the day before the Strawberry Days parade, a change intended to keep sidewalks clear and reduce long-term obstructions. Administrator Scott Darrington said yard signs will be placed along the parade route two weeks in advance and the rule will be publicized on social media.
Council members expressed concerns about a potential rush once the placement window opens and about homeowner notification. Council Member Cyd LeMone said past problems included chairs blocking sidewalks and safety risks. Staff committed to monitor and enforce the right-of-way rule and to provide homeowner notification ahead of the event. The city also discussed standard parade logistics including split assignments between park and rodeo security and distribution of limited complimentary rodeo tickets per the Strawberry Days agreement.
