Pleasant Grove Recreation rolls out all-terrain wheelchairs for public checkout

Recreation Director Megan Zollinger demonstrated Pleasant Grove’s new all-terrain wheelchairs and told the City Council the city has three chairs available for checkout at the Recreation Center.
"The chairs are currently free to check out with a $50 deposit," Zollinger said, and she described a five-point harness, self-braking mechanism and bouncy tires that make previously inaccessible trails usable for some residents. Zollinger said three rentals have already allowed residents to visit natural areas they could not reach before and credited grant funding for enabling the program.
Zollinger said staff have promoted the chairs on social media and plan a display at the upcoming Berserker Blitz event. Residents can reserve a chair online or speak with the Recreation Center front desk; minor repairs will be handled by a vendor in Payson. The city asked Council members to help spread the word so the resource is used widely.
